El brother haciendo equilibrios en la playa cuando tenia dos anos

Es el brother practicando los principios del Taichi en una playa a lado de la frontera con el país vecino del sur. En esta foto cumplía dos años.

Ahora, con una mayor experiencia en la práctica del Wu Shu y Tai Ji, es posible establecer algunos de los principios.

1. Distinguir entre el yin y el yang (Distinguish yin yang). En todo movimiento hay una fuerza y una suavidad, una inspiración y una espiración, un momento de ataque y otro de defensa. Hay que buscarlo.

2. Moverse circularmente (Circular motion). Todos los movimientos tienen más energía si tienen un recorrido circular. Los movimientos lineales son más torpes y utilizan menos la relajación apropiada.

3. El cuerpo y en especial las caderas inicia el movimiento de las extremidades (Body brings out the limbs movement).

La familia Yang (style) es la más practicada. Según las fuentes, son 81, 108 o 200 movimientos, dependiendo de cómo se cuentan. Así, cada movimiento tiene un nombre, por ejemplo:

Paso hacia atrás y empujar al mono - Step back and repulse the monkey
Doble ataque en el templo (cabeza) - Double hit temple
Azote simple oblicuo - Oblique single whip
Mujer trabajando en un transbordador - Fairlady work at shuttle

El estilo chen es el más antiguo, y se caracteriza por movimiento más sedosos (Yin) y series de fuerza (Yang). Es muy distinto según sea utilizado con fines curativos, de meditación, estéticos o deportivos de combate.

Hay una diferencia importante entre las artes marciales del sur de china y del norte. Las del sur se basan más en la tercera distancia (third range), mientras que las del norte se basan más en patadas de pie (primera distancia). El tercer range es la distancia en la cual el acercamiento permite golpear con las manos en el centro (centralized). Por ejemplo, Bruce Lee popularizó el golpe de una pulgada (The One inch punch). Este utiliza una técnica llamada fa jing (fuerza explosiva) y genera una cantidad tremenda de impacto y fuerza a distancias muy pequeñas. Las piernas ofrecen la base, las caderas giran, las costillas se expanden y el brazo se estira.

Hubud hubud es uno de los ejercicios para aprender energía por repetición (energy drill). El objetivo es parecido a chi sao, pero viene de las artes marciales filipinas (cuando se practican con espada se llaman escrima).

Wu Shu


Sitta ha dicho hoy que lo practicamos es en definitiva Wu Shu. Son en realidad tres caracteres (palabras o ideogramas) chinos, "do not do" (zhi), "fight" (Ge) y "art" (Shu). Asi que puede traducirse como el arte de no luchar.

Hoy en día es una rama formal de las artes escénicas en China. De hecho, es el deporte nacional maas popular del pais. El Wu Shu moderno ya no es combate sino arte escénica. Es una disciplina mental para mejorar la salud, pasárselo bien y competir.

Kung Fu con abanicos

Wu Shu se practica con las manos abiertas, con palos o con espadas. Hay otras modalidades muy bonitas como los abanicos. En Lumpini, Bangkok, pueden verse multitud de estilos, normalmente mezclados.
